Silver Spoon volume 8 release date
Amazon Japan is listing the release of Silver Spoon volume 8 for July 11th. It will presumably contain chapters 62 through 70 and cost 440 JPY. ISBN number is 9784091243461, in case you want to order it at some local shop.
There’s still no cover available, but you can already pre-order the volume.

Silver Spoon volume 7 first at Oricon chart!
The new Oricon chart is out and Silver Spoon again managed to reach first place with 370,676 units sold of the regular edition in its first week. The limited edition of the book (which includes a Yezo Agricultural High School student handbook) can also be found at sixth place, with 103,365 units sold. That makes a grand total of 474,041 copies, which is a new record for the series!

Arakawa draws poster for Bessatsu Shounen Magazine
According to its official website, Arakawa is drawing an original furoku poster in the next issue of Kodansha’s Bessatsu Shounen Magazine. It’ll be her first contribution for this publication.

Deluxe Seal sets with Silver Spoon 7
A couple of Deluxe Seal sets will be given out to celebrate the release of volume 7 of Silver Spoon.
There will be two different designs - Tamako ver. and Ayame ver. - and will feature two new drawings by Arakawa. They will only be available in certain Japanese shops until supplies last. Volume 7 will be released on April 18th.

Heroes Come Back volume out in late April
Heroes Come Back, the compiled manga volume of specially-drawn one-shot manga stories with all royalties and proceeds going to the devastated areas by the March 2011 Touhoku earthquake and tsunami, will finally be released on April 30th and will cost 950 JPY.
It will include Arakawa’s two-part Silver Spoon side story contribution, which appeared in Shounen Sunday back in February.

Silver Spoon 7 student handbook sample
Shounen Sunday official website has uploaded a couple of sample pages for the Yezo Agricultural High School student handbook to be included in the limited edition for Silver Spoon volume 7 (out April 18th).
The handbook will aparently include some original drawings by Arakawa, along with written content - such as Yezo regulations. You can see bigger samples at the official Facebook.

The Shounen Sunday Official Website is listing a limited edition for volume 7 of Silver Spoon, which will include a Yezo Agricultural High School student handbook.

Hyakushou Kizoku featured in April issue of Wings
The April issue of Wings magazine features Arakawa’s on-going autobiographical manga Hyakushou Kizoku on its cover.
Apart from some color pages for the new chapter, the magazine also includes a Hyakushou Kizoku schedule book (from April 2013 to April 2014) as furoku.

Silver Spoon nominated for Tezuka Cultural Prize
The Asahi Shimbun paper just announced the nominees for the 17th Annual Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize, and Silver Spoon is among the selected manga series. The winners will be known in late April, while the ceremony is to take place on May 31st.

Silver Spoon wins Shogakukan Manga Award
The 58th Shogakukan Manga Awards were just announced today and Silver Spoon has won in the shounen category! Arakawa had previously won the award with Fullmetal Alchemist in 2003. The award ceremony will be on March 1st.

New clear bookmarks with Silver Spoon 6
And yet another new set of three clear bookmarks has been designed by Arakawa to celebrate the release of volume 6 of Silver Spoon.
The characters featured on the bookmarks this time will be the Principal, Nakajima and Fuji, and will only be available in certain Japanese shops until supplies last. Volume 6 will be released on January 18th.

Hyakushou Kizoku furoku in next Wings issue
Next issue of Wings magazine will include a Hyakushou Kizoku schedule book for the year 2013 (starting in April). The issue will be released on February 28th and will also have color pages for the new chapter of Arakawa’s autobiographical manga.

Silver Spoon manga licensed in France
French publishing house Kurokawa licensed the Silver Spoon manga last month. The first volume will come out on February 14 and will include a limited reversible cover (see above).
