The official Silver Spoon anime website has been updated to include a couple of promotional videos (with animation) plus a list of the cast, which includes:

Silver Spoon volume 8 release date

Amazon Japan is listing the release of Silver Spoon volume 8 for July 11th. It will presumably contain chapters 62 through 70 and cost 440 JPY. ISBN number is 9784091243461, in case you want to order it at some local shop.

There’s still no cover available, but you can already pre-order the volume.

Arakawa to adapt 'Arslan Senki' in Bessatsu Shounen Magazine

According to Anime News Network:

The June issue of Kodansha’s Bessatsu Shounen Magazine is announcing on Thursday that manga artist Hiromu Arakawa (Fullmetal Alchemist, Silver Spoon) is drawing an adaptation of The Heroic Legend of Arslan (Arslan Senki), the acclaimed fantasy novel series by Yoshiki Tanaka (Legend of the Galactic Heroes, Sohryuden - Legend of the Dragon Kings, Tytania). The manga series will launch in the magazine’s August issue on July 9.

Silver Spoon volume 7 first at Oricon chart!

The new Oricon chart is out and Silver Spoon again managed to reach first place with 370,676 units sold of the regular edition in its first week.

The limited edition of the book (which includes a Yezo Agricultural High School student handbook) can also be found at sixth place, with 103,365 units sold. That makes a grand total of 474,041 copies, which is a new record for the series!

Arakawa draws poster for Bessatsu Shounen Magazine

According to its official website, Arakawa is drawing an original furoku poster in the next issue of Kodansha’s Bessatsu Shounen Magazine. It’ll be her first contribution for this publication.

It’s likely that her illustration won’t be Fullmetal Alchemist or Silver Spoon related, since their rights belong to Square-Enix and Shogakukan respectively. Issue 6 (which contains the poster) will be out on May 9th.

Silver Spoon anime by A-1 Pictures

According to next week’s issue of Shounen Sunday, A-1 Pictures is the studio in charge of the animated adaptation for Silver Spoon. Manga series recently adapted to the small screen by the studio include Magi, Ao no Exorcist, Uchuu Kyoudai and Working!!.

Ito Tomohiko (Sword Art Online, Seikimatsu Occult Gakuin) is directing the anime along with assistant director Deai Kotomi. Other staff include Kishimoto Taku (Usagi Drop) writing the scripts, Nakai Jun (The Sacred Blacksmith) as character designer and chief animaton director, and Murai Shusei (Aiura) as music composer.

The series will air this July in Fuji TV’s noitaminA block.

Deluxe Seal sets with Silver Spoon 7

A couple of Deluxe Seal sets will be given out to celebrate the release of volume 7 of Silver Spoon.

There will be two different designs - Tamako ver. and Ayame ver. - and will feature two new drawings by Arakawa. They will only be available in certain Japanese shops until supplies last. Volume 7 will be released on April 18th.

Silver Spoon anime slated for summer

According to Anime News Network:

The May/June issue of The Tsukuru magazine reported on Saturday that the television anime of Hiromu Arakawa’s Silver Spoon manga will run during the summer on Fuji TV’s late-night Noitamina block. The Tsukuru ran an article which includes interview excerpts with Kōji Yamamoto, the chief producer of Noitamina. The magazine also notes that the manga has been receiving initial print runs of over one million.

Heroes Come Back volume out in late April

Heroes Come Back, the compiled manga volume of specially-drawn one-shot manga stories with all royalties and proceeds going to the devastated areas by the March 2011 Touhoku earthquake and tsunami, will finally be released on April 30th and will cost 950 JPY.

It will include Arakawa’s two-part Silver Spoon side story contribution, which appeared in Shounen Sunday back in February.
